In late 2003 and early 2004, my friend Cedric traveled to India. He spent 4 months in a variety of locations throughout the country. During his time there, he was able to work with many different organizations, villages, individuals and students. Initially, Cedric spent time in Bohdgaya and worked with the Naranjan School. You can see details of this school at www.naranjanschool.org (bottom left). Cedric was extremely moved and inspired by the incredible work going on in this school, and became motivated to see how he could personally assist with this endeavor. It wasn’t long before the Tsunami hit the southern part of India and Cedric was immediately drawn to travel to the areas impacted by this storm and offer his assistance. He quickly became a part of a non-profit organization called “Prepare”. He was then sent to some of the outlying villages to assess the damages, and to assist with the clean-up and restoration of those areas. During this time, Cedric created a number of friendships, and became inspired to see how he could be of more assistance. It wasn’t long before he learned of the small village of Kadiapattanam. This village worked diligently to rebuild after the Tsunami, and came together to assist one another. However, their water supply has been contaminated by the effects of the Tsunami. It has now been a year since the Tsunami, and this village continues to have no local source of safe drinking water. Daily, a large truck delivers water to the Villagers. (right) This is an expensive, difficult and inefficient way to provide the necessary water to these people. Cedric began to search for a sustainable response to this need, and headed home to Switzerland with the commitment of finding a solution. When he met me, we became a perfect match with my fundraising ability here in the States, and his in Europe. Together, I believe we can raise the funds necessary to make a difference for these beautiful people!!!!
